Can
you really learn how to become a professional wedding photographer just
by going on a course?
Well
no, not from an ordinary course - but before you hit the back button,
let's see why the answer is no, and what we can do to help...
There
are several firms who claim that you can learn wedding photography
from the very expensive courses they run, and they say that you can
learn the craft of wedding photography by going to their lectures and
then attending a fake wedding with models playing the part of the Bride,
Groom etc. - you'll be taking your pictures alongside several other
people on the course and basically you'll be lucky if you learn anything
more than how to take correctly exposed, well composed formal shots
of the Bride & Groom.
This method can't
work simply because
There
aren't enough people there to photograph, so you can't learn the essential
people management skills
The
models aren't stressed or excited so they don't behave like a real Bride
& Groom
The
models are experienced and know how to pose
There
are no awkward guests, or amateur photographers getting in your way,
or poor lighting conditions, or shortage of space
I
could go on, but I'm sure you get the idea!
So
how can it be made to work?
We
offer a real, practical, individual training course over 3 days.
Day 1.
We spend the day
Taking outdoor photos to hone your camera skills, making sure that you
can get the best out of your camera, can use both slow and fast shutter
speeds and both large and small apertures to get creative effects, control
backgrounds, use fill flash properly etc and you'll also learn how to
use studio lighting for 'rained off' weddings that need to be shot indoors
at the reception. We also spend time looking at example shots, learning
how to make a guaranteed profit from wedding photography etc.
Day 2.
We spend the day at an actual, real wedding. It will be exactly the
same as photographing a wedding that you'd booked yourself, except that
you won't have the responsibility and you'll be free to take your own
shots and watch an expert at work - and of course to learn from your
mistakes in a stress-free environment and to ask questions. And, as
a bonus, you're guaranteed to get a full set of pro quality shots for
your portfolio.
Day 3
will be spent in front of the computer, learning how to get the best
from the photos. Raw conversion, batch conversion, cropping, image enhancement,
inserting copyright info, spot colour, background blur etc. We also
'debrief' the events at the actual wedding and of course answer any
questions.
And
of course, because your tuition is individual you'll have our full
attention and you'll learn far more than you could learn as part of
a group attending a fake wedding!
Sounds
good, but is there a snag?
Well, yes there is a snag - because every course is individual
we sometimes have quite a long waiting list, so you need to book your
course well in advance.
FAQ
How
far ahead will I have to book? This varies from a few weeks to a
few months
Is
the course over 3 consecutive days? If possible we prefer to have
days one and two together, with the 3rd day the following week - but
if it's more convenient to you (for example if you live a long way away
from our Bradford studio) then we can run all 3 days together
How
much does it cost? £1291.33 - that's nearly £5,000
LESS than some other wedding courses
